The Substitute is a 2002 American animated comedy film produced by Imperium Entertainment for 20th Century Fox. The fourth feature film from Imperium, it was co-written and directed by Sean Andrews and co-written and produced by Nicholas Pockes and Trevor Jordan. The film follows Mark Bukowski (David Spade), a substitute teacher who takes up work at Rockfield High School in Florida. However, he accidentally gets himself and his students caught in the middle of a criminal scheme.

The Substitute was released in theaters on September 27, 2002, and received mixed reviews from critics, who praised its writing and performances but criticized its story. It was a modest box office success, grossing over $68 million worldwide on its $20 million budget, and was later released on DVD and VHS on January 21, 2003.
