Renegades (released as Gas Renegade Squad in Japan) is a 2003 open-world sandbox action-adventure video game developed and published by Ubisoft for the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox, and Microsoft Windows. It was originally released in North America on April 8, 2003, in Japan on July 1, 2003, and in Europe on September 16, 2003. Designed by TjsWorld2011, the game is inspired in part by The Sims and Grand Theft Auto. Its story focuses on James and Carl (voiced by Matthew Broderick and David Spade), two gas station employees who have been fired from BigCo Gas, the top gas station on the market; the two set out to build their own gas station enterprise in order to topple BigCo from its place.
Upon its release, Renegades received positive reviews from critics.
